I just recently purchased a used pair of New Original Large Advent speakers, connected them to a Marantz 2285B and really enjoy them. They have a nice low end, and can be a tad bright but they do especially well with good recordings. My question to the group is. Because they're a little bright, I usually keep the switch in the decrease position when I listen to them. Seems to sound best in my room. They do a good job contrasting recordings, and a good recording sounds great through the Advents. As for the speaker recommendation, I don't know, but I'd like to hear what others think. As for myself, I'm curious about the Harbeth and Spendor models with larger woofers. Click to expand.I purchased my New Large Advent speakers locally from an ad in Craigslist. The seller was a great guy, allowed me to demo/listen to them at his place prior to purchasing them. ![]() Plus I didn't have to pay for shipping and risk damage from poor packing. And I've seen my share of the ignorant things people do when shipping delicate items. Regarding ebay, I always check and see how many other speakers, receivers, electronics, etc. The seller has sold in their history. If its none, I never consider purchasing from them as they probably have no idea how to rate the condition of the equipment or may not have tested them.
